Cherry picking in July was a family event, five kids swinging in their chosen tree before getting down to the heart of cherry picking, and "Bringin' in the cheese" for sheaves... sung homoniously by the smallest cherry picker in the field... Family traditions of long ago still hold value and an authenticity that seem to go by the wayside if not handed down to future generations. Wholesomeness begins at a time when it can be respected, just like a cherry pie made by your favorite lady-- Mom, and all the good things about a family gathering in the outdoors around a picnic table.
